South Korea: The explosion in Yeosu killed three people

Baspar / Iranpolymer An explosion at the South Korean chemical and petrochemical site in Yeosu killed at least three people. The incident occurred on December 13, 2021, shortly after midnight, while welding work on the pipelines of a naphtha tank. The subsequent fire was extinguished by the morning of the same day. Affected are facilities of EIL Industrial, a manufacturer of plasticizers, additives and solvents based on naphtha.

Although a radius of 1 km around the scene of the accident was evacuated for a short time, the explosion apparently did not have any further consequences. According to statements from the Yeosu city council, the other systems at the site are not or only slightly affected.
