Recycling of protective masks started successfully

IranPolymer/ Baspar   As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, sales of disposable face masks and personal protective equipment (PPE) are booming worldwide. So far, however, there are only a few recycling projects for these new everyday products.

The British company ReWorked (South Milford / Great Britain) launched the recycling initiative “Reclaim the Mask” in October. The aim is to work with companies and institutions that use large amounts of PPE. ReWorked processes the standard disposable masks made from PP fleece – together with Ocean Plastic material as well as food and cosmetic waste – into recycled plastic sheets, which can be processed into collection bins for PPE waste, for example.
