Let’s go to the (plastic) beach

If you’ve ever wanted to experience a plastic beach, then you’ve got to head to Tampa, FL, to see the new 15,000-square-foot art experience at Amalie Arena: The Beach Tampa.

The faux beach consists of 1.2 million recyclable and antimicrobial polyurethane balls enclosed in mirrored walls to create “an infinite reflected expanse,” according to one description. The installation is sponsored by Tampa Bay Lightning owner Jeff Vinik and his wife Penny, as a way to give back to the community.

The Beach Tampa is set up with beach chairs and umbrellas, beach huts and all the right stuff for beach-goers.

The exhibit is free and runs from August 5 to 25. For more information visit the website.
